How to… Style Jeans Shorts

Although Panama’s weather is humid and we have sunny days about 75% of the year (some days are half sun half rain) people are use to wearing pieces that are made for cooler weathers. Shorts, hats and sandals are not that common in the city. Foreigners are usually surprise when they see us wearing long jeans in very humid days. Now more and more people are embracing summer looks and adapting them to other situations besides the beach. One of my favorites is the jean short. Below I leave you some tips on how to style them and look polished when wearing them in the city.

• Usually, when I’m wearing shorts or a mini skirt I like to balance out the top. I recommend wearing a ¾ sleeve or a long sleeve shirt. A tank top with a blazer will also be a great choice since you can take it off when the day gets too hot.

• The same rule applies with the shoes. If you are wearing a top that is too open go for a low heel, sandals or flats. When wearing a conservative top the heel high wont matter!

• Go for a long short. Showing your butt is not a good day-to-day look. I’m not talking about getting shorts that reach to your knee – that wouldn’t be a short lol. Just a mid length that allows you to sit anywhere and that will look good with sneakers or heels. This length is great for any figure.

• As you know, I love high waist jeans. The same goes for shorts. They will give you legs for days and a tailored or slouchy style will look great.

• If you have never been a shorts girl but you are considering them, begin with a slouchy style. They won’t feel like underwear and it will be a style that you can transition from day to night.

A pesar de que el clima de Panamá es húmedo y tenemos días soleados casi todo el año, la gente esta acostumbrada a usar piezas que son comunes en climas fríos. Piezas como los shorts, sombreros y sandalias  no se ven a menudo en la ciudad. Los extranjeros se sorprenden cuando nos ven usando jeans en días calientes. Últimamente mas y mas personas están usando looks veraniegos en la ciudad. Una de mis piezas favoritas son los shorts de jeans. Abajo les dejo unos tips de cómo usarlos y verte arreglada cuando los uses en la ciudad.

• Cuando uso shorts o una falda corta me gusta crear un balance. Esto lo hago al usar una camisa con mangas ¾ o mangas largas. Otra opción que me encanta es usar un tank top con un blazer ya que si el día se pone muy caliente me lo puedo quitar y cuando entro a un lugar frío no tengo problemas.

• Lo anterior también aplica con los zapatos. Si usas un top muy abierto opta por zapatos bajos. Un top mas cerrado puede usar con estos o tacones.

• Elige un short que quedé un poco largo ya que no se ve nada bien que se vea el trasero. Tampoco es que vayas a buscar uno que te llegue hasta la rodilla ya que no sería un short. Uno que quede casi a la mitad del muslo y te puedas sentar sin problema estará perfecto. Se verá bien con zapatillas o tacones y le quedará bien a cualquier tipo de cuerpo.

• Ya saben que me encantan los pantalones high waist y esto incluye shorts. Hará que parezca que tienes piernas larguísimas y cualquier estilo que cojas, ajustado o relajado, se verá bien.

• Si no eres de usar shorts y estas considerando comprarte uno, elige un estilo relajado. No se sentirán como ropa interior y es un estilo que podrás usar de día o de noche.
